What Is Snow?
cold weather, and walking to class in cold weather while having to allude hidden patches of slippery frozen snow, is monumental! Sure, it's beautiful, but thats what pictures are for. I'm sure we could all appreciate th beauty of snow-capped Main Hall via photo, rather than SPRINTING from durham into the basement of Main Hall just to get warm as fast as possible.
Sure there are pleanty of kids out here that have no problem with this cold weather... those kids are NOT from sunny California. And many of them simply give us odd looks as we cry on our way to class. Yes, we cry. True it's mostly because the freezing cold wid is blowing directly into our eyes, but we all know it's because we are longing to wear our flip flops again. Ican't even remember the last time I saw mine...
The good news is that here at Southern Virginia University, the students have many opportunities to be preoccupied, and keep their mnds off the horrid weather. Well, we know thats where our minds are, everyone else is porbably thinking about school.... yeah, whats that? Just the other night, there was a game of freeze tag hosted by the Fifth ward in the SAC using the wrestling pads as obstacles. How fun was it? SOOOOOO FUN! Of course on our way out of the lofts we realized we should put on a rain coat because we were expecting rain, but to our surprise there was no rain when we stepped out into the cold abyss. Then what was it falling from the sky? it seemed to heavy for snow, but not wet like rain... Alas, the unexperienced Californians were dumbfounded. It was snow. So we did what every 18-year-old Californian who only saw snow once a year would do... we had a snowball fight and built a little snowman!
So the moral of the story is this: snow can be very frightening, but as long as you wear alot of clothes and have a dependable source of heat nearby, it is tolerable.
