Two Years Later...

I can faintly recall a time when three college freshman would post of the happenings at their little lds (non affiliated) college to simply pacify their ever son interested parents who were desperately seeking an "in" into the lives of their beautifully wonderful daughters who are 3,000 miles away... Today I have decided to reinstate the BLOG.
You heard me. It will live on.
And trust me, there is much to talk about. But as for now, let this serve as a warning. A warning that you will now have to be responsible for checking this blog that follows the lives of Bam, Fel, and Grem... But mostly Grem.. Gremily.. Gremma.. Emma.. that's me.
You have been warned.

Update

Here it is, the end of the semester. We did it. We made it through our first year of college, and we're alive! We're also National Champions... we just like to throw that in any chance we get, but who wouldn't? This is the last stretch, it seems like it should be so simple, a few papers, tests, packing, and then homeward bound, California here we come! But this is so far from reality it's insane. As always, all the professors have assigned pretty big projects and or papers right around the same time, so we've all been fairly busy. And as if preparing for finals paired with finishing projects wasn't enough, Thursday April 9th, 2009 a fellow CHS Grad, Courtney Stewart was killed in a drunk driving accident in Fullerton California, along with Angels Pitcher Nick Adenhart. When I heard the news, I was completely in shock. All the little random memories of Courtney came flooding into my mind... Like the time Jeremy and I forged a love note from Courtney and put it in Ridge's car... good times. It's weird how the taking of life changes little things. As some of you may be aware of, I'm not really a fan of the color pink in excess, or at all, but on Thursay April 16th, 2009, I'm going to be wearing pink in honor of Courtney since I won't be able to attend her funeral that same day. Courtney will be missed, and my prayers go out to her and her friends and family, and I hope you can include her in your prayers as well.
Well, apart from the less-than-happy news, all is well in Buena Vista, Virginia. We are just awaiting May 1st, 3rd, and 5th.... days we fly home! Until next time...

Well, seeing as the trip is only a mere halfway through, ive got to run to dinner, so there will be another post telling about all of our outrageous adventures!

We had weather for a grand total of 6 days. Snow fell, stayed, and completely melted within a week. Of course, we're not complaining. No way, we're excited beyond comprehension for our recent 60 degree weather. That's strange... 60 degrees? really? How warm has it been back in the 909 lately? well, i suppose recently isn't too fair of a time period, given the rainy clouds that are unleashing the temporary terror on the Inland Empire. But, other than the rain, it has been in the 80's! in February! Oh how we all miss sweet California "Seasons".

But this blog isnt just about the weather, cause how boring would that be... its cold, and it was a little warmer than usual, but now its cold again... yeah, we didnt think it was exciting either... and try living in it. News in the life of the "Goon Squad": 2nd place in the intramural volleyball tournament! It may sound exciting, but really there were only two good teams, four total, but everyone knew it was between our team, and a completely stacked team with a libero, and middle blocker, who may i add measures in at about 6"3... or so... Well, the championship game came around far too soon, but we gave it our all. Unfortunately our best was just short of 1st place as you can imagine. Although we did play awfully well for being a team of four soccer players. Melanee was the master of the dive. You couldnt keep her off the floor. Emma, who is 5"4, was blocking... thats right BLOCKING. And Tamara was killing it as usual, well, when we all got our serves in that is... The next intramural is indoor soccer, and if you were wondering, YES we are going to dominate. They just changed the rules to allow soccer varsity players to play, you can have 3 varsity members on one team, but only 2 on the court at a time. So we will indeed have some competition, seeing as most of the guys from the mens team will be playing as well. But we're stoked nonetheless.

What Is Snow?

What's the coldest it gets in Southern California? 40? may 35 degrees? Well, thats nothing compared to the weeks of weather with highs of 35, wind, and... Snow? What is snow? it can happen somewhere you dont snowboard? Wait what?!

That's right, we've had snow. real, falling from the sky sticking to the ground and all our faces, SNOW! the difference between walking to class in

cold weather, and walking to class in cold weather while having to allude hidden patches of slippery frozen snow, is monumental! Sure, it's beautiful, but thats what pictures are for. I'm sure we could all appreciate th beauty of snow-capped Main Hall via photo, rather than SPRINTING from durham into the basement of Main Hall just to get warm as fast as possible.

Sure there are pleanty of kids out here that have no problem with this cold weather... those kids are NOT from sunny California. And many of them simply give us odd looks as we cry on our way to class. Yes, we cry. True it's mostly because the freezing cold wid is blowing directly into our eyes, but we all know it's because we are longing to wear our flip flops again. Ican't even remember the last time I saw mine...

The good news is that here at Southern Virginia University, the students have many opportunities to be preoccupied, and keep their mnds off the horrid weather. Well, we know thats where our minds are, everyone else is porbably thinking about school.... yeah, whats that? Just the other night, there was a game of freeze tag hosted by the Fifth ward in the SAC using the wrestling pads as obstacles. How fun was it? SOOOOOO FUN! Of course on our way out of the lofts we realized we should put on a rain coat because we were expecting rain, but to our surprise there was no rain when we stepped out into the cold abyss. Then what was it falling from the sky? it seemed to heavy for snow, but not wet like rain... Alas, the unexperienced Californians were dumbfounded. It was snow. So we did what every 18-year-old Californian who only saw snow once a year would do... we had a snowball fight and built a little snowman!

So the moral of the story is this: snow can be very frightening, but as long as you wear alot of clothes and have a dependable source of heat nearby, it is tolerable.

So, the primary focus of this blog are the adventures of the three roomates, Felony, Camera, and Gremma, s they has come to be known. All three hailing from the magnificent California, and proud of it!
Currently the three are going through some hard times... weather. None of them had ever really encountered such a phenomenom... What is snow? Regardless of the ever intimidating 21 degree weather with wind, and the occasional snow shower (since when does SNOW shower... isnt that just a rain thing?) with the entirety of campus being completely covered in ice, the three youngsters still find time and energy to put on every article of clothing they own and go to Washington and Lee to play a pick-up game of soccer at 9 o'clock on tusedays and thursdays! Who ever thought we would be out here, in boondock Virginia, playing soccer, and rooming with two California girls, and being excited when the weather is above 50? its crazy!
We're still trying to get used the difference between here and California, but as it goes, just as we get the hang of it, it'll warm right up and we'll head off to sunny California, where we will spend time off school... It's true that time flies when youre having fun, but whoever said that was NOT living in Virginia, we'll tell you that much.

Here We Go...

So here it is... we've made a blog...
i know right? this is so exciting... basically this is for all you people out there that deeply care about the lives of Melanee Guymon, Emma Alkonis, and Tamara Nagle...
